Doug Campbell, curator of the event series Mindshare LA, will MC a series of short talks that unfold daily from 2pm-4pm at the Mindshare Lounge. The roster will largely be made up of LiB artists and creators who are working at the intersection where Science Meets Art, or “SmArt” as Doug calls it, paying homage to 2012′s SmArt Gallery which he debuted at LiB with conspirator Mike Russek.
Doug is a community constructor, experience engineer and tuxedo traveler. He co-founded Mindshare LA in 2006 as a monthly event series in downtown Los Angeles and established a large local following, celebrating it’s 50th consecutive salon in May 2012 with a full weekend celebration that included 20 artists, 15 presenters, 10 workshops and a variety of colorful performers. From the event’s early days he saw the power of technology to augment social interaction and began forming an interactive collective called Mindshare Labs which was eventually spun off and incorporated as Syyn Labs in 2009. Syyn gained quick notoriety for its RGM music video collaboration with OK Go. The creative collective has been featured in Fast Company, on CNN and on multiple TV shows. In late 2012 Doug left Syyn to refocus his energy into Mindshare, continuing to host events while growing the organization into a full blown experience design consultancy. He also co-founded The Tuxedo Tyrants which mixes charity with public improv and the SMART series which debuted at LIB 2012 and and organizes workshops and events that fall at the intersection where Science Meets ART.
