Fine artist, Shana Koenig creates one-of-a-kind sculptures made of glass, fiber optics, crystals, LEDs and solar power. These organic pieces are reminiscent of flowers in the day and sea creatures at night. Like plants, they collect and store energy from the sun during the day and light up at night, slowly changing colors in mesmerizing patterns like bioluminescent deep sea creatures.
Shana is a traditionally trained artist with a Fine Arts degree, Magna Cum Laude, from the University of California at Santa Barbara. After college she taught herself computer animation with an emphasis on texture, lighting and compositing. After several years of working in the movie and video game industries, she moved to Mumbai, India to help start an animation studio. During her time at Prana Studios, the company grew from 30 employees to more than 600, in which she supervised several titles including Hoodwinked, The Chubb Chubbs Save Christmas and Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure.
After returning to Los Angeles, Shana rediscovered her passion for fine art and wanted to translate her strong eye and extensive experience with 3D, dramatic lighting and materials from computers to the real world. The result was her vision of this unique form of art which overtook her and she decided to begin this new journey…
