Tell Your LIB Story: Heather Berg LIB 2012

Lightning in a Bottle was an amazing transforming experience for myself along with my family. I had no idea what to expect and have never been to something like this before in my life.
I had the pleasure of being able to enjoy this magical experience with my boyfriend. We were packed and ready to leave San Diego on another great adventure together, without knowing what great surprises I had in store. We were filling up the tank as I was checking my facebook one last time, I noticed an interesting post from my Mom who lives on Maui, “I am here to surprise my daughter and go to LIB with her,” I was shocked. My mom has not been to San Diego in over twenty years and never leaves Hawai’i. The look on my face was priceless as I attempted to ask my boyfriend “is it true?” He told me that it was a surprise! I was practically in tears, happy ones of course.
We made our way to Santa Anna to meet my mom, her boyfriend and a friend. Over joyed with excitement to see her. We hurried to collect some last minute necessities, and made our way to pick up our tickets then down the dirt road to an experience of a life time.
We found a great camping spot next to great neighbors and an amazing after party. Set up our home for the weekend and went on an excursion. We were blown away by everything. Being my mom’s first stop since she got here, she was blown out of her shoes and the awesomeness everywhere. I enjoyed the look on her face more then anything. California and LIB were a part of her bucket list, she has cancer and wanted to do everything and embrace everyone before her time. If you have ever been to Maui, you would learn that she is practically the queen of Maui and miss Aloha everywhere she goes. My mom brought that love and aloha with her to LIB. She was even surprised to run into several people that she knew. Everyone happy to see her and excited to share this experience with her. She made friends at every stage and every stop that we made along the way, we even picked some knew friends up while we were just walking by because my mom’s ora is a rainbow.
We danced the night away as I learned how much I am like her everyday we were there. I feel the music in my soul just as she does and I let it carry me in to a wave of motion just as my mom does. We dressed up and painted our bodies and played with lights all night. Every morning we had coffee and breakfast up at the temple of consciousness as we cleared our minds for another great night with new experiences and new friends.
I would not change my Lightning in a Bottle experience for any other. Sharing it with my family and the ones that I love was more then gold. LIB transformed me into a stronger person with even more love for my mom and the light that she brings to this earth. I love you mama and I will dance the nights away always for you.
