The Traveler’s Guide to LIB
February 19th, 2020
Lightning in a Bottle is more than a festival. It’s a destination where your imagination is the only limit for 5 magical days! Nestled in beautiful Southern California, LIB is filled with unique areas inviting you to create magic, experience art and music, and engage in inspiring and educational offerings.
Lucky for you, LIB has never been easier to travel to! Our new home at Buena Vista Lake is located right off Interstate-5 just over an hour outside of LA, making the commute to the venue short and sweet.
It’s about the journey and the destination at Lightning in a Bottle.
When it comes to where to stay – we always suggest staying onsite for the best, most authentic LIB experience possible. Our onsite accommodation options serve a range of different wants and needs, from the luxury seeker to the backpacker on a budget – there’s something for everyone!
Onsite Accommodation Options
For the Minimalists
Whether you’re a solo backpacker or just prefer to keep a minimal footprint, LIB’s standard camping options have you covered.
Tent Camping – FREE with the purchase of a 4-Day or 5-Day Festival Pass
Ballin’ on a budget? Tent camping is the way to go. The perfect route to take for solo, couple, or small group travelers, this option allows you to park your vehicle in one of our parking lots and transport your belongings by hand or wagon to your preferred campsite. The only downside: it sucks having to carry a lot of stuff!

Car Camping – only one Car Pass needed per car!
Car camping is the most popular camping option at LIB. Unlike tent camping, you can drive your car straight to your campsite and eliminate the long trek to camp with your gear + enjoy being able to lock up your belongings with ease! And the best part… when LIB comes to an end (sigh), you can easily pack up and drive outta here! Tent and gear not included with Car Pass.

Let us do the driving while you sit back, relax, and meet your new best friends on the way to LIB. Added bonus: bus riders get to skip the will call lines and get to their campsites quicker!

For the Glampers
For an elevated and convenient onsite camping experience, LIB’s Boutique Camping is the way to go. Our 3 luxurious packages come fully furnished and can accommodate 1-4 guests! Out-of-state or international travelers shouldn’t have to lug their camping gear across state lines or try to carry it in on their backs to enjoy LIB. If you’re willing to travel great lengths to get to LIB then allow us to return the favor and go great lengths for you!
Boutique Camping eliminates the need for extra heavy baggage such as tents, blow-up mattresses, chairs, and coolers – giving you added packing space for more important things, like your creative festival fashions!
It also alleviates the extra load of lugging labor and allows travelers the much-needed luxury of dropping your stuff and immersing yourself in the experience.
Starting at $1,500 + fees, explore Boutique Camping Packages HERE.
For the Non-Campy Campers

Packing For Your LIB Travels
Ticket and ID: Might seem like a no-brainer, but triple check you have everything you need to enter the festival. If you don’t have your ticket yet, get it HERE.
Trash Bags: Sort your trash and recycling to help us keep LIB Beautiful! Pro Tip – leave space in your car so you can fit the full trash bags on the way out.
Functional Kicks: Plan for lots of walking! Remember to bring durable, comfy shoes for hiking and dancing. The staff recommends close-toed shoes, but sturdy, supportive sandals are abundant during the hot days. Boots are recommended for night, and shoe insoles are a lifesaver!
Reusable Water Bottle: Please no single-use plastic bottles! Water stations are abundant within the main festival area, but definitely keep a good amount of water back at your camp in the form of 2 gallon water jugs (or larger). If you’re tired or cranky, you’re probably dehydrated. Get yourself an official LIB reusable water bottle HERE.
Yoga Mat: Yoga is a great way to start your day.
Headlamp: For hands-free night vision.
Rafts/ Floaties and Bathing Suits: To keep on floating! Please remember to take your floaties home with you!
